Chronology of events
1992 – Physician neurologist Igor V. Skurikhin and anesthetist Alexander V. Skurikhin made decision of private practice establishment
"I had been brought up in socialism era and it was nearly impossible to survive with state salary only at that time. Hence I felt extremely discomforted when patients were trying to thank for successful treatment and especially when I had been asked “Doctor, how much do I owe you?” At that time I realized that there is no free medical care – there are different sources of payment and finance – state budget, insurance companies and self-payments of patients for medical service. Then I decided – not to have situations of discomfort and uncertainty for doctor and patient it is necessary to define these sources and financial relationships and just to use official casher as an intermediate. (Igor V. Skurikhin, Director General of Medikom Clinic).
This was the way first private medical practice in Ukraine was established in 1992
1992 – setup of two medical wards occupying rented hospital territory
